Rationale & Explanations:

The purchase of 25 additional computers will enable the addition of a 20 position computer lab on the second floor of the main building, as well as the addition of two computers in the boy's and girl's locker rooms in the gymnasium and one PC in the Art lab, to be utilized for the student management software the first year.

The purchase of 13 new color inkjet printers, plus the removal from the peer-to-peer computer lab of ten printers, enables all classrooms, including the boy's and girl's caoches to have a dedicated printer in the classroom. The peer-to-peer computer lab will be networked and keep two of their ten printers, which will be outfitted with Jetdirect cards for networking.

There will be 44 drops required- one for each classroom, one for the gymnasium, plus 4 drops required in the new upstairs computer lab and 4 more required to network the peer-to-peer lab, which totals 52 drops.

A switiching hub is needed in the existing Art lab, as well as 16 hubs for the networking lines.

82 NIC cards will be required to upgrade exisiting computers and new computers, to allow networking, as well as 4 Jetdirect cards to network exisiting and new lab printers.

1 Building router will be required, which will be installed in the downstairs wiring closet.

1/2 of a T-1 line has been chosen because it will fill the needs of the school for the next three years, but may be upgraded to a full T-1 line in the future of if extra money becomes available.

8 scanners and 8 digital cameras (2 per lab) will be purchased the first year.
