Title Of Lesson:
Exploring the FFA

Description of Lesson:
This unit is designed to let you explore the FFA on your own.  You will be required to visit the national FFA web site to complete a guided webquest, explore video clips on symbolism, make your own emblem and to complete an online test.
 

Duration of Lesson:
3-4 class periods
 

Content Standards and Lesson Goals:
Louisiana State Agriscience Benchmarks and Standards- (Leadership)
The learner will be able to:
    -list the pertinent dates in FFA history.
    -explain the FFA Code of Ethics.
    -discuss the meaning of the symbolism present in the FFA emblem.
    -reflect upon the changes that have occurred in the FFA and in Agricultural Eduation over the last 50 years.
    -develop a sample yearly Program of Work for the FFA chapter.

Procedures:

Day One:  Web quest Activity
        the webquest activity is virtually self-contained.  The teacher need only insure that the websites listed in the webquest are up and accessible by the students.  Students will progress through Tasks One and Two on Day One.

Day Two:  Students will continue with the webquest activity by completing Task Three, then will partner with another student to play "FFA Jeopardy".  Upon completion of the FF

Day One Webquest Activities & Assessments:

Task One:  FFA History- Graded Notebook Assignment
Task Two:    FFA cassette- Rubric (posted on webquest site)

Day Two Webquest Actvities and Assessments:

Task Three:  FFA Shopping- Graded Word Document assignment
Jeopardy Game- may be informally assessed.  It is designed to serve as a non-graded review for online testing and a final paper test assessment at the end of the unit.
