Description:
This
science lesson is designed for grades 5-6. Through using this unit on volcanoes,
students will develop background knowledge of volcanoes. Activities vary from
web quests, lessons, cooperative group activities, and projects.

Objectives:
Upon
completion of this course, students should be able to:
1.
Describe the characteristics and identify the three types of volcanoes.
2.
Explain how shield, composite, and cinder cones are formed.
3.
Describe the disastrous and positive effects of volcano eruptions.
4.
Describe types of volcanic eruptions.
5.
Explain how a volcano model is constructed while giving an accurate account of
which natural materials the materials in the model represent.
