The Changing Piano

This is called a Dulcimer. It is an ancestor of the piano that originated in Iran shortly after the birth of Christ.

The clavichord was first built around 1400, and was most popular three centuries later in the music of Bach.

The harpsichord reached its peak in the period of Bach and Handel.

Beethoven probably used a piano such as this, during the eighteenth century.
