Plan
Unit Description:
In this unit
students will be introduced to the four seasons. The
students will be engaged in various activities that will encourage the
development of their knowledge of the four seasons.
Lesson Description:
This unit will include five lessons which will introduce the students
to
each of the four seasons. There will be a culminating activity in
which
the students will share their work with other classes.
The lesson outline is as follows:
*Winter
*Spring
*Summer
*Fall
*Culminating activity and Web Quest
Intended Audience:
This unit was
developed for use with kindergarten students. The
students should have a general knowledge of the computer, the mouse
and how to work and move cooperatively through centers. Teacher
modeling and supervision is required.
Duration:
This unit should take approximately one week (1 hour 20 minutes per
day) to complete.
Unit Goals:
The goal of this unit is to integrate science, language arts, technology
and math while providing activities from which the students gain
information and knowledge about the four seasons. The purpose is
to
provide a basic foundation for the students to build upon as they
continue through school.
Unit Outcomes:
Students should have a basic understanding of the four seasons.
They will develop a book about the seasons, develop several Thinking
Maps, complete a web quest activity, play several computer based games,
listen to several stories about the seasons and complete various math
activities.
Distant Learning Strategies:
The Web Quest develops an understanding about the types of clothing
needed for each season.
The Web posted digital video - introduces the seasons at the
beginning of each lesson.
