Inventors and Inventions of the Industrial Revolution

Spinning Jenny
Invented in 1765 by James Hargreaves.  The Spinning jenny produced thread quickly. This enabled spinners to keep up with the demands of weavers who were using mechanical looms.  Early models allowed a spinner to work with eight spindles at a time. Later models allowed the spinner to manipulate up to one hundred spindles at a time.  The larger machines did not fit into cottages. The textile industry moved out of the cottage and into the factories.  Peoples work day were now ran by the clock life in the cottages.
