Helpful Information

School Hours
School hours are 8:20 a.m. to 3:31p.m. Students may be dropped off at 7:50a.m. at the earliest. Students report to the cafeteria immediately for breakfast (if applicable) and then to the gym for morning meeting. All teachers report to the gym at 8:20 to attend morning meeting and to pick up their classes.

Transportation
Transportation to and from school can be overwhelming for our young ones, especially for the first month of school. Students will wear transportation tags the first two weeks of school. Please help your child learn his/her bus number. Please also note that any transportation changes must be submitted in writing to me the morning of the change so the office and I will be aware of the change. Please do not simply change the transportation tag on your child and expect that he will go home differently than his/her normal designation. For ex. If your child is normally a car rider, you cannot pin a bus tag on him and expect that he will be sent home on the bus. You must notify us of the change. Also, if your child is to be picked up by a family member or friend, he/she must be listed on the child's emergency card in the office. Anyone checking out a child in the office must show identification. Safety must come first!

Lunch Money
Lunch money will be collected the first day of each school week. Please make sure you place your payment in an envelope marked with your child's name, my name, and your child's lunch number. Students may bring lunch or buy lunch in the cafeteria each day. A menu will be sent home at the beginning of each month. Parents may join students for lunch in the cafeteria on any given day.

Take Home Folder
I will frequently send letters home with important information about classroom and school events. Students will be asked to put any correspondence in their take home folders, so please be sure to check the folder daily. Also, if you need to send me any paperwork, notes, etc. please put them in the take home folder as I check the folder each morning.

Daily Snack
Please send a snack for your child each day. Some snack suggestions include pretzels, cheese crackers, fruit, cookies, etc. Special treats such as cupcakes may be enjoyed on birthdays. (Please be sure to let me know if your child has any food allergies.) Please do not send any nuts, peanut butter, or anything containing peanut butter for snack. We have several students in our school who are allergic to peanuts. I know this may be an inconvenience, but we have to consider all children's safety. Please explain to your child that he/she will have to enjoy those types of snacks at home. Thank you for your cooperation!

Book Orders
Each month your child will be bringing home two Scholastic bookorders, SeeSaw and Click. If you would like to order books, fill out the order form and place in an envelope with payment. The two companies are separate so you will need to write separate checks for each one. The checks should be made out to Scholastic, not Cypress Cove. Also, please do not send cash. I will specify due dates for bookorders in my weekly newsletters. I encourage parents to purchase books from Scholastic because it is a very cost-effective, convenient way to get age appropriate quality literature in the home. As an added bonus, I will earn one bonus point for every dollar you spend. With bonus points, I can order books, tapes, games, and other educational materials for use in the classroom. Thank you for your support!
